Das Problem liegt im verwendeten Unicode-Zeichensatz.
Das Windows-"Euro"-Zeichen (AltGr + E) wird als Wert 128 gespeichert, im Unicode ISO-10646 ist das jedoch nicht so.
Für das Euro-Symbol gibt es in HTML einen Tag, der das Euro-Zeichen auf eingermaßen neuen Browsern Unicode-Gerecht darstellt: €
Die PHP-Funktion htmlspecialchars(), mit der phpBB den eingegebenen Kram umwandelt, wird das Euro-Zeichen jedoch nicht mit seinem Tag-Äquivalent ersetzt, weswegen das Zeichen als ASCII 128 stehen bleibt.
Einige Browser (vermutlich die neueren MS-Browser) kommen damit klar, andere (alle Standardkonformen) kommen damit nicht klar und zeigen ein Fragezeichen, so auch mein Mozilla bis Version 1.3.1 (und 1.4 RC1, final habe ich noch nicht).
Evtl kann Marc oder Tino ja einfach nur eine Zeile in die Speicherfunktion im Board setzen, die den Wert 128 durch € ersetzt, dann sollte's bei jedem gehen.
